Uh, oh, here it comes, the contest started back in September, and I am very late to join the party, that is the reason I need your help The contest finishes the 15th December and in an ideal world I am by then on one of the first three places in Google’s search results for Oes Tsetnoc.
What do you do with the money if you win?
When I win you mean ? OK, $200-$1000 would come in handy, especially so close to Christmas, for a lot of things: Present for hubby, present for the cat or a nice mini notebook for yours truly! I am planning a long distance walk in October next year and would like to treat myself to a nice, little, lightweight notebook to blog and twitter whilst en route!
Why should we help you to win?
Because I am a nice person? For the cozy, fuzzy feeling inside when you help somebody? To do a good work / improve your karma? Perhaps just because you can? Or simply because you are a nice person??? Pick your reason and do it!
What do you do if you don’t win?
Nothing really special, I just curl up under my desktop and be depressed for a couple of weeks! Just joking, if I don’t win, nothing really happens, the world will continue to rotate around the sun and the heavens will not fall on our heads And I might have learned one or two things more about Seo along the way, things I love to share with you!

2nd December
The last days were a rather bumpy ride through the Google SERPentines This page, my entry in the Oes tsetnoc Seo contest oscillated between place 5 and place 34. At the moment I am somewhere around place 22. Which is not great ;-( But on the other hand, it means there is still room for improvement So, what have I done so far and how will it improve my serch engine rankings for the term “Oes tsetnoc”? I mentioned earlier, that by being late, my own fault, nobody else’s, I need help building back links to this page. It was a bit of a miracle for me how many of you took the time and wrote something up for me! To all of you:

What I have done so far, is adding more relevant content regarding Oes tsetnoc to this page. As content is king with Google and its SERPs.
I removed any distracting content from it, like the sidebars and most of the ads. This way, I hope, Google will give the content more weight as it isn’t surrounded by ads, links etc.
I also updated my theme, as the new version allows to specify meta data (excerpt, description and keywords) for each page instead of using the overall site default. This way I give Google to understand that this page is about Oes Tsetnoc. So, that is it with on site Seo for the moment.
Off site Seo consisted in continuing to use “oes tsetnoc” as keywords when commenting on blogs.
Adding some nofollow links to the mix. No, I am not crazy, but what do you think what Google thinks if there are only dofollow links pointing to a site or page?
Adding oes tsetnoc more of my forum signatures, online profiles and related web sites, where possible, adequate and allowed.
What I didn’t do was spamming. Yes, I want to win, but the honest way, how would it look if I complain in same posts about spammers on my own blog and then go out and try to spam “Oes Tsetnoc” wherever possible? Thought so, a bit hypocritical
What are the things I need to do?
I have now to concentrate on writing more content up that points to this page. Content that is related to oes tsetnoc and supports this page. Basically in the style of article marketing, lets see how it goes. Oh, yes, I still have to add my link to several online profiles, forums and I might even try to make a facebook fan page for it

My entry to the contest was finally approved! The funny thing is that I was already climbing the SERPs for the term “Oes tsetnoc” and, believe it or not, I am now one PLACE 5 of Google for this search! Here what I did so far and what I think helped or didn’t help:
Content is King for Google, so obviously by writing about the Seo contest (remember that this is what Oes tsetnoc means, only spelt backwards) and by adding / updating to this content regularly (like now) I will provide the best, freshest content about Oes tsetnoc and on and off page SEO in general. All this content will be on this single page, as only this page is my contest entry, not my whole blog.
Domain age and authority
I shortly toyed with the idea of creating a contest entry on its own domain, but luckily all the good domains were already taken. Why luckily you ask? Because I discovered that I could also take part with a newly created page / folder / sub-domain on an existing site. That is, in my opinion, mainly responsible that I climbed the SERPs so fast. This is an established site with a certain authority (at least in Google’s eyes), so creating a fresh page here made sure that I could use my chosen keywords (oes tsetnoc obviously) and that the page would get indexed quickly by Google.
I asked for help
As I entered the contest I knew that I was very sharp in time to get ranked in Google for “ Oes tsetnoc” and that I needed all the help I could get. So I asked for it and I got help in form of links pointing to this site as fellow bloggers blogged about my entry into the Oes tsetnoc Seo contest In case you want to help also, feel free to write a blog post, blurb, tweet etc. Like I said, I need all the help I can get!
Building backlinks
Remember the blog post “Write your own backlinks” I wrote some time ago? Because my entry was not approved until this morning my time, I didn’t spend much time with building backlinks, but I added this page to some forum signatures in Seo forums and I also used it as keywords (where allowed) on blogs I comment regular on. That is an important point for me, not to go out and just spam every dofollow blog I can find with comments made by somebody called “ Oes tsetnoc” instead I used these keywords on blogs where I comment in all cases regularly, just linking my comment now to this page, instead to my main domain.
Further Plans:
Apart of adding regularly fresh content to this page, I need also to optimize the on page SEO read meta description, summaries etc and create more backlinks to this page by writing articles, lenses, hubs, etc. So stay tuned for more updates, Seo tips and, in case you are a fellow contestant: May the better win!

I’m glad you fixed the comment posting captcha. I posted a few comments before I realized that it wasn’t going to work until you fix it. I read your post about plug ins. Plug ins can misbehave badly at times and for oddest unfathomable reasons too.
I posted a link on my blog inside of my last post to support you in the contest.
I made sure it worked. Coming over here I clicked on it and got 404.
A few minutes later I tried again without having changed anything and I got here. Things don’t always work as they should.
