A lot of bloggers have been kicked from today.com recently, you can read my own story about my experience with today.com. I would like to help others with the same fate to stay in contact and to promote their new blogs/ sites. Please leave a comment with your new ‘address’, key words and remind me who you were on today.com. I will than write up a nice blurb on this page about your ‘new home’ with a dofollow link to it
One word of warning, if you have still outstanding earnings at today.com than there is every chance that they NOT will pay you in the next pay-out cycle if you speak out against them. You might want to wait until you get paid and join later. Or you might want to risk it, your choice, take care
SY
So here the first load, if you want to be added, please leave a comment
Edit: To make it easier to read, and as this list grows, I will from now on (12th May 2009) put the most recent additions on top!
Rich Dansereau was localexpert.today.com and he wrote about the Knoxville, Tennessee area. He is one that left voluntarily but not before stripping his blog from as many posts and images as possible. Now he and his partner have created the Neighborhood Expert Online network which is free to anyone who wants to blog about where they live. He also blogs regular at Knoxville Local Expert So if you are interested in anything to do with Knowville, be it restaurants, events or history, check it out!
Laneerg was also locked out of her blogs. She was ‘The Single Frugalton’ and ‘Storytime For Children’ at today.com. Her story is at “Why I Left Today.com” on her new blog ‘Living frugal and simple‘
Remember Joda? She blogged at ‘A Poets View’ and ‘My City By The Bay’ at today.com. Now she is independent and can be found at Poetic Shutterbug where she has also written a very good, balanced article about her story with today.com.
Nicole (me thinks she was `Daily Chef` on today.com, blogs now about affordable daily dishes at her own site. Very tasty, don’t visit if you are hungry
Bookishgal aka Phyl that blogs now at Bookish Gal Shiny Ideas was one of the first that got ‘kicked of today’ but she made a new beautiful home for herself her blogs, books and her cats! She will also put up soon an ‘exiled from today.com’ list.
Flittingonfiction aka Flit found a new home three new homes at her blogs for mature students, Canadian fiction and her personal flitting blog that also contains great advice on how to deal with the ‘life after today.com’ and a list of fellow victims.
RocketScientist aka Stephanie writes now on ask me anything and, obviously, Rocket Scientist.
ExoticBirds/ Christa’s Parrot Information continues to Bother the Birds, a must stopover for friends of feathery creatures.
30somethingandsearching/ Kelly kept her blog name and continued to write about her searching for everything, but moved it over to a google blogspot blog. Also she maintains a blogroll of today.com exiles.
Onceandfuturefarmer who had a ‘Our Right to Self Reliance’ today blog found a new home at choseit for her writing about self reliance and chicken. Also she has a today.com Expat roll.
Lostfan/ msterri aka Ms Terri continues to write about the TV Show LOST a great blog about the ABC television series.
Beth was ‘Being Thrifty’ and ‘Route 66′ at today and has already started two successor blogs at My Mutterances and Route 66 in Arizona and also she spreads the word where to find ex-today bloggers.
Carrie K. didn’t get kicked out, but left voluntary to continue her writing about book reviews and reading challenges. If you love books and movies, this is a great blog for you.
‘TV News and Reviews’ and ‘Shrine to Actors’ aka Val will continue to write TV News and Reviews and has also added a today.com exiles blogroll.
Non fiction book lover aka Hava also made it into freedom
If you have enjoyed her insightful bookreviews you will also enjoy her new nonfiction book review site.
Marilynne/Maxie who blogged as womenoverfifty.today can now be found at three different blogs:
Marilynne’s world about all things mysterious and her online life,
Mystery Writer Lady, her blogging blog and
Writer’s and book blog. Not bad for a woman of a little, tiny bit over sixty! You see, we woman ‘over a certain age’ are especially good at multi-tasking

As for payment of what they owe you? Don’t count on it, no matter how nice you try to be. I’d say you should just write it off as a swindle, and resign yourself to not seeing a penny. I know for sure they won’t pay me that last $25 they owe me.
Oh, and — yes, please add me to your own list.
Once the weekend is done, I’ll be able to start making mine as well.
@Phyl
SY
They owe me around $55, I have an email stating that they will pay me the next pay cycle. If they don’t I threaten them with legal action! And, no, I don’t try to be nice. I am angry and I want to warn others from them. I will ad your blog to the list
You’ve got mine, I hope?
I’ve actually got 3
http://nontraditionalstudentsrus.blogspot.com/
http://flitscanadianfiction.blogspot.com/
and http://justflitting.blogspot.com/ …but whichever you post is much appreciated
I’m out, though I left partially on purpose (at least one blog); they just kicked me out all the way. I don’t hold with censorship. This is the internet for Heaven’s sake!
You know, of course, where to find me.
Ask Me Anything
Rocket Scientist
Stephanie
@Flit and Stephanie
I can cope with more than one blog/ ex-today member
SY
Oops, hey people, key words please! Pretty please, give me the key words that are relevant to your blog! And don’t forget to add your old today.com name also, people will be looking for us. Lets help them to find us! SY
My old site was Christa’s Parrot Information.
I am now just on Bother The Birds
Thanks!
I kept my blog title, just moved it to blogspot. I have to get a special blogroll going on my blog.
~Kelly
http://30somethingandsearching.blogspot.com/
Our Right to Self Reliance was the blog I worked on at Today.com. I’ve started a blog at Choseit.com The How and Why of Self Reliance. Primary key word is “self reliance”, and I only give a nod to Emerson mostly for SEO purposes. My tag cloud:
Self Sufficiency chickens how Self Reliance community Definitions aspects of self reliance Economic Self Reliance shelter self reliance Small Livestock urban livestock food self reliance about Back Yard planting Ralph Waldo Emerson Project Payday energy self reliance Life Philosophy contact keeping chickens community building gardening Basic Concept Vegetables
Give me a few minutes, I’m logging in over there and will put up a page like this one for anyone interested. This is a GREAT idea!
Ack! Please edit my above comment to fix that tag! Sorry…need more coffee!!!
Thanks, Hospitalera! I was msterri on Today, and my blog was lostfan.today.com.
My new blog is “LOST for a Reason” at http://www.forareasonblog.com
It’s a blog with cool tidbits for people who love the TV show LOST. Keywords are Lost, ABC, television, TV
Thanks so much!
I’m doing this same thing on my blog. If you want to be included, please pop over there and leave your links and your Today.com blog names. The blog to do this on is at http://mymutterances.blogspot.com
I wrote the Being Thrifty and Route 66 blogs at Today.com. I will be starting a Route 66 blog as well, at http://azroute66.blogspot.com. I’ll be posting the blogroll on that blog as well when I get it up and running.
I’ve also done a post linking to all the blogs (including this one) that I know of that are doing the blogrolls.
Thanks!
Beth
Another place to announce and link your indie blog;
Today.com Expat
Note the invite for guest bloggers.
@all
SY
Thanks for all the sign ups, will do it tomorrow, now it is late here in Europe
I wasn’t kicked out, I quit voluntarily after the latest rate change. Though I did complain on the forum, so chances are they might have kicked me if I hadn’t quit first.
I kept the same blog name Books and Movies, just went to a new domain that my husband owns: http://booksandmovies.colvilleblogger.com/
Keywords: book reviews, reading challenges
Thanks for doing this!
Hallo again! I used to do TV News and Reviews and Shrine to Actors on Today. Now I’ve at least got one new blog up and running for TV News and reviews: http://tvnewsreviews.blogspot.com/
I’ve added a Today.com Exiles blogroll as well and included a link to your blog; hope that’s okay!
Ack. Just realized I misspelled my email address…lol. Guess I won’t be getting those comment notifications…lol!
SY, for the official record:
My blog, Bookishgal (Same name as on Td.c)
Keywords: Book reviews, publishing news
Hey SY, if you want to, please add my site to your blogroll. http://www.nonfictionbookreview.com/ I was lucky enough to get my keywords in my URL, so just link to me as “nonfiction book review site” or whatever. I wanted to add you to my new blogroll – what keywords would you want me to use? SEO is always important!
Have fun in Switzerland!
Hava
Hi Hava, will do so when I am back, doesn’t look as there will be any internet in the whole village! My keywords would be ‘blogging resources’ as this is what the blog gravitates to at the moment, take care and thanks for dropping by
SY
edit: forget the above, just added you, but now it is time for bed in my neck of the wood
Done!
Flit, I think, is setting up a blog strictly for cross-promotion of ex today bloggers. She’s not done yet, but it’s in progress.
Thanks for the link!
I left Today.com. They locked me out/kicked me out, right after I had cleaned out my blog and left. I was womenoverfifty there. Now I have three blogs:
http://marilynnesmith.com/blogging
http://mysterywriterlady.blogspot.com
http://maxiebooks.blogspot.com
I also blog on MySpace
You can see I wasn’t lacking for a place to blog, but I really liked the blogging community there. It pleases me to see us finding each other.
Marilynne
@Carrie K.
SY
You are welcome
@Marilynne/Maxie
SY
Will add you! Thanks for telling me
All is updated now, in case I have forgotten you, missed something, you would like to have a correction done, just drop me another comment
SY
How do I add this to my RSS reader? Sorry I’m a newbie
@things to do in seattle
SY
Just click on the rss icon in the top right corner and you can add it to your google reader. For other readers you have to check their help file. If you tell me what browser/ reader combination you are using I might be able to tell you more
Add me, add me, add me. I am so glad I found all of this. It was a follow this blog post to this blog post to this blog post… and I suddenly landed here. I’ve missed so many familiar faces, etc.
I actually quit blogging for today when they put the ad in the website magazines and used my blog in the promotion but then promptly dropped my pay the day that it came out. Yeah, that was it for me. And much like most of the other people here, I was almost always in the top 10 or top 15. I know I drove a lot of traffic there, and worked hard.
Can’t say I miss it. I love my new site much better and can’t wait to see many of you there!! (hey and we can use entrecard and plenty of other things all we want now!)
@Nicole
SY
Glad that you found us! Will add you asap
Hi there, here is my story with Today.com http://poeticshutterbug.blogspot.com/2009/05/my-story-with-todaycom.html
and here is my new blog http://poeticshutterbug.blogspot.com
I was A Poets View and My City By The Bay at Today.com I was locked out yesterday.
Welcome to independence, Joda! I have added you to the list
SY
I was locked out of my blogs this morning.
I think whoever locked me out wasn’t very happy about the “work” I did to both of my blogs. I’d deleted a lot of stuff, but they deleted anything that even smelled of having backlinks to my new blogs or other exile blogs.
I was The Single Frugalton and Storytime For Children.
My story is here: “Why I Left Today.com”
@laneerg
Will add you asap! SY
Well, I’m on your list, thank you. I blog about my life (definitely over fifty) and the world as I see it. I have a book in progress, I go to Curves 3X/week and Zumba 2X/week, just like I said in womenoverfifty.today.com.
Life seems to be going along just fine without them. I’m glad to see my blogging buddies collecting here, one by one.
Marilynne
@Marilynne/Maxie
You are truly a master of multi-tasking! SY
@Laneerg
SY
Added you
I am a bit late to this party. I was an avid blogger at Today.com localexpert.today.com. My blog was all about the Knoxville, Tennessee area that I call home. In response to seeing many people whose blogs I enjoyed reading and Today.com’s decision to stop paying or restructure their agreed upon methods of payment, I left. I was able to strip out my images and many of my unpublished posts before losing access to my account. I also changed my Today.com title to “Where I Live” from “Knoxville Local Expert.” I, along with my partner, created the Neighborhood Expert Online network http://neighborhoodexpertonline.com/ which is free to anyone who wants to blog about where they live. I continue to use my Knoxville Local Expert title and blog regularly at http://neighborhoodexpertonline.com/richd/ I am disappointed that it seems I have lost control of how Today.com uses my material, including adding links that I never approved to words within my posts. I applaud your idea of listing many of the Today.com exiles and intend to do something similar in my blog roll (hopefully today). Thanks for your efforts!
Here are my keywords:
Knox county, Tennessee, Knoxville restaurant, Knoxville event, Knoxville history, Knoxville parks, Pigeon Forge, Sevierville, Gatlinburg, University of Tennessee, Great Smoky Mountains
@Rich Dansereau
I edited your comment to take the link to today.com out, I didn’t feel to give them a PR2 backlink, lol. I will add you to the main text of this blog post asap! I remember your old blog, lucky you that you could take your images down, they still have mine, arrrggghh! SY
Welcome to the party, better late than never
@Rich
Just added you, sorry it took so long! SY
They kicked me too! I complained about an advert which is not something I would normally do. They closed my account and didn’t pay me.
Thanks for mentioning my blogs. It says to me that we left Today.com, but these blogging buddies stick together. We don’t need Today.com in order to put out a good blog.
Welcome to all the newly departed (from Today.com).
Marilynne
@louie jerome
Just to give you a bit of head up, chances are good that you will get paid the next today.com paying circle. Don’t give up hope!
Welcome to the club! Give me your old today.com name/ blog and your current blog and keywords and I’ll add you to the list
@Marilynne/Maxie
Yes, tru, but we still haven’t found the right common hang-out to network, any ideas?
SY
Seems like many people are disappointed with Today.Com policies, till today I didn’t know much about today.com but it seems nice, do try out triond.com as well, they also pay you for your articles per 1000 page views and also associatedcontent.
Hi hospitalera, just wanted to say thanks for the heads up on that one. I was considering writing a blog on today.com. I’ll be steering clear now I think …
@Audrey Ross
SY
Thanks for the tips! At the moment I am looking more into promoting my own sites, then in adding content to other people’s sites – unless dofollow backlinks are involved
@Linda
