Blog commenting should follow rules and proper guidelines to avoid spams and unlikeable text posts. For me by the way, I greatly appreciate bloggers who offer do-follow link in the commenters' signatures. Both the commenter and blog owner get something of value from that arraignment. Hopefully, the blog owner gets some well thought out comments that add value while the commenter gets a link with related juice from a blog with PR (in most cases). Simply by converting to do-follow has increased the traffic and comments on some of my older blogs almost 100%.
